Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered many other smeared cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the substance was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A high-ranking political figure said the vandalism made him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
